Black & White
A canon of classics and elegance, a set of colors popularized in fashion by great designers, including the mentioned Coco Chanel. The imprint worked - the raw colors of the habits of the nuns from the orphanage where little Gabrielle spent her childhood. Nowadays, black is certainly the most popular fashion color. The black of a small black or evening dress will fit perfectly into any occasion, while a white shirt plus a black suit / tailcoat / tuxedo is a men's evergreen and a must-have set of business, music and gala dinners.

I wonder why black and white, so universally accepted in clothing, are so difficult to break through in interior design tastes. The suggestion of using this scheme (I admit, my recent favorite – see the attached photos from a BBHome Design project) provokes strong opposition from most clients. While gray has become the new beige and has become a fixture in contemporary designs, Black & White still doesn't quite make the cut. White is "cold," "hospital-like," and ultimately "impractical," while black is rejected without any attempt at interpretation, meaning without reason. Black widow, black hen, black d...a – the connotations associated with black are unequivocally negative.
And the extraordinary beauty of the shiny silky fur of a black cat? The vastness of black sky illuminated by stars?

Black is beautiful, quiet, even neutral, it is a perfect - just like white - a counterpoint to the hustle and bustle of shapes and colors of the world around us. Black is mysterious, deep and of course elegant. Mixed with white, it adds drama and emotions to boring surfaces, creating an extremely harmonious and expressive duo.

Black and white in interiors is nothing new, baroque sculpture and classic palace floors have been present in the recesses of our associations for years. After years of oblivion, they return to favor. From the interiors of churches and large mansions, they move to thatched roofs. The recipe is simple. Let's add a little silver and gold, and we will get a glamor-style interior. For lovers of more modest solutions, let's add the standard offer of earth colors to white and black, and we get expressive, sophisticated spaces with a greater than average dose of contrast.

White and black are like salt and pepper that emphasize the taste of each dish. Give it a try!
